Simon Grayson kept the Leeds players away from the club’s annual golf day this week, not wanting them to have to answer endless questions and listen to constant talk about the importance of Saturday’s promotion showdown with Bristol Rovers.

But he acknowledged that there would be only one thing on everyone’s mind at the moment: “You are thinking about things all the time and you never get away from the fact that you are playing at the weekend,” he said.

“The players looked very sharp on Monday and Tuesday, had Wednesday off and today we’ll be making sure we are ready to go for a big game.”

Having missed the chance to clinch promotion when they lost at Charlton last weekend, Leeds know they need a win in the Elland Road sell-out to be sure of avoiding the play-off lottery.

The good news for Leeds is that in their seven previous league visits to Elland Road, Rovers have never won. The not so good news is that they have managed to draw four times – and a draw could let Millwall or Swindon snatch that second place and consign Leeds to the play-offs.
