Leeds United recovered from a shock two-goal deficit to defeat Dublin’s Bray Wanderers 3-2 in the second game of their three-match tour to southern Ireland today.
Canadian trialist Marcus Haber boosted his chances of landing a contract by scoring a second-half equaliser and also on the mark were Rui Marques and Jonny Howson.
Leeds were two down in the opening 31 minutes, David Lucas conceding goals from 25 yards by Daryl Robson and close range from Ger Rowe. However, Angolan international defender Marques marked his first appearance of the tour by heading home Andy Robinson’s cross at the far post in the 54th minute when Bray’s trialist keeper failed to claim the ball.
United were level on 68 minutes when Peter Sweeney and David Prutton combined for 19-year-old striker Haber to side-foot the equaliser to crown a promising display.
Enoch Showunmi replaced Haber ten minutes from the end and three minutes later he did the spadework for Howson to snatch the winner from 12 yards.
Leeds manager Gary McAllister said: “The first half was disappointing. It was not acceptable so we had a few words at half-time and got the right reaction, three goals and a victory.”
United complete their tour against Shelbourne on Thursday night.
