UWE Rosler is eyeing his first Elland Road win on Saturday against the club who gave him his first taste of management in England.

Leeds begin back-to-back home games with the visit of Brentford, where the German was in charge for 137 games until December 2013.

Former Brentford midfielder Kevin O’Connor credits Rosler with raising the expectations of the West London club.

He said: “Uwe got the ball rolling. We were a bang average League One side, but Uwe changed the mentality.

“Everything he did was all Premier League standard. He did amazing, so we’ll be saying thank you to him."

Winger Stuart Dallas, another Brentford old boy, is back from helping Northern Ireland move closer to European Championship finals. Lewis Cook and new signing Jordan Botaka have also returned from international duty.

Left back Charlie Taylor, the only player to have completed all six games so far, reckons Leeds are in a strong position after the opening month.

He said: “Everyone knows we’re unbeaten now and I think that win against Derby was vital.

“It’s five games unbeaten in the league and we’re up to tenth and into the top half. It’s been a successful month I think.

“I think now we’ve got that first win under our belt we can kick on now. Things are looking good and we’ve got to carry that on into Brentford on Saturday.”

Taylor finished last season on the wing but is still required to push forward from his natural defensive role.

“The gaffer likes his full backs to get forward. It’s not just your defensive game, you’ve got to offer something in attack.”
