FARSLEY Celtic’s season has boiled down to just five games as they chase a league and cup double.

But their destiny is not in their own hands, and they could end up with nothing.

With four league games remaining, the Celts are top of Evo-Stik Division One North, but lead by just one point, while second placed Lancaster City have a game in hand.

One part of the double will be settled on Tuesday as Farsley make the short journey into North Yorkshire to take on Tadcaster Albion in the West Riding County Cup final.

And they must do it all without leading scorer James Walshaw, who is sitting out his third suspension of the season.

Walshaw was handed a five-match ban after picking up a third red card this term, the first of those games being last Saturday’s home game against Droylsden.

After that match, Farsley’s joint manager Neil Parsley said: “It’s been a long hard season, and the squad are showing the signs of that as we reach the end but the suspensions are hitting us hard, and that’s just down to indiscipline.

“Aiden Savory got a three-game ban and Walshaw won’t be available until the last game of the season, which is at Kendal Town.

"I don’t know if there are going to be any more twists and turns in the run-in but one way or the other it could all be over by then.

“At a time when we need our squad to be at it’s strongest, we’re a little short of attacking options. We should have Lamin (Colley) back from injury - if not for the next game then possibly for the last few games.

“We have some very tough games coming up - they’re all cup finals in a way - and we just hope that we can get the job done.

"We are guaranteed a play-off place, so that’s one aim we had before the season crossed off the list but, having come this close, we want to win the league.”
