FARSLEY Celtic have been in tremendous form throughout this season and their sights are firmly fixed on the Evo-Stik Division One North title as they enter the final furlong.

The Celts are second in the table with two games in hand and are hunting down Lancaster City.

Farsley are just three points behind the leaders and have won their last six league games.

Midfielder Ross Daly said: “It’s so far so good this season as far as we’re concerned but obviously there is a long way to go.

“If - and it’s a big if - we carry on in this form, we can win the league, and if we can win the County Cup it would be a bonus, but promotion has always been the target this season and we’re in with a shout.

“If I’m being honest, everyone thinks that it’s a two-horse race for the title now and I think that we’re in the box seat.

"We can overtake Lancaster if we keep winning and (third-placed) Trafford are nine points behind us and we have games in hand on them.”

Farsley edged a nine-goal thriller at Hyde United last weekend but romped to a 7-0 win at promotion-chasing Ramsbottom United in midweek.

The differences between the performances was stark but former Rhodesway School team’s star midfielder Daly believes that shows just how much character there is in the squad.

He said: “I think that this is the best squad we’ve had at the club in recent seasons and we’ve done whatever's been needed over the last couple of months, even if that’s been grinding out a result.

“The win the other night was something special but we just took our chances. It was a great team performance and the managers have been rotating the squad but everyone coming in has played their part.

“That might be the difference between us getting up by winning the title or ending up in the play-offs.”
