Ossett Albion 0 Farsley Celtic 0

Farsley failed to make the most of one of their game in hand in the Evo-Stik Division One North last night as they were forced to settle for a point against Ossett Albion at Dimple Wells.

The Celts started positively and James Walshaw had an early header saved before Jordan Deacey, back in the starting line-up after missing Saturday’s home defeat to National League outfit Southport in the FA Trophy through illness, shot straight at the home keeper.

Ossett forced several corners as they grew into the game but Farsley had the ball in the net just after the half-hour mark, however, Walshaw’s header was ruled out for offside.

The hosts had the better chances after the break and were twice denied by the woodwork before Farsley had an effort cleared off the line with just minutes remaining.

The point banked sees Farsley climb above local rivals Brighouse Town and Welsh club Colwyn Bay on goal difference. The Celts are now seventh, just five points off the summit with games in hand on all of the six clubs above them.

Tonight sees Albion Sports back in action in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League. Kulwinder Sandhu’s men take on Bottesford Town in the Premier Division after their weekend home game was shelved because landlords Farsley were at home.

The inactivity cost the Albion Lions as they slipped from sixth to seventh in the table after Liversedge leapfrogged them.

The Lions will go back above their neighbours tonight with a home win over mid-table Bottesford and they would still have a game in hand on Jonathon Rimmington’s men.
