GUISELEY head to Bootham Crescent tonight for what could prove to be a hugely significant derby against fellow National League strugglers York City.

The Lions clawed their way above the Minstermen following their respective weekend results but the clubs are separated by goal difference only.

Their head-to-head clash offers one of the clubs the chance to open a three-point gap and the possibility of moving to within a single point below the current safety mark.

Guiseley will be the more buoyant as they enjoyed a 3-1 home win over promotion-chasing Boreham Wood on Saturday.

York slumped to a third consecutive defeat but the derby element will see form go out of the window and the hosts will be seeking to avenge their 6-1 mauling in the reverse fixture.

The Lions ripped into York at Nethermoor and opened up a 4-1 lead inside half an hour, despite falling a goal behind in the first minute.

There was a late finish that night in early October after a floodlight failure but the Minstermen will still be seething and Guiseley boss Adam Lockwood is expecting a full-blooded derby.

He said: "We prepare the same every week and it's a bit boring – I say it every week. But we'll prepare like any other game and if we're right, I think we're a match for anyone in this league. We just have to be right on a more consistent basis.

"It'll be a tough game and we go there knowing that. We've got to prepare as best we can and be ready."

FARSLEY CELTIC are also in action tonight as they head to National North outfit Tamworth for an FA Trophy third qualifying round replay.

The Celts thought they had done enough in Saturday's initial meeting as Jacob Hazel gave them a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute.

The Lambs struck back deep into stoppage time to earn a second bite of the cherry and the clubs go into the rematch knowing the winners will have home advantage in the next round.

A visit from Guiseley's league rivals Southport awaits, while the Lions will travel to either Chorley or Stafford Rangers for their first-round tie.
