PADDY Miller feels that Farsley Celtic will still reach the play-offs in Evo-Stik Division One North despite suffering a shock defeat in midweek.

Farsley lost 3-1 at struggling Radcliffe Borough after scoring first and looking in control.

With the number of fixtures dwindling, the pressure is on but Miller says he and his team-mates still believe they will be in the end-of-season extras.

The defender said: “Obviously Tuesday was not the result we wanted and we didn’t perform like we have over the last three or four months.

“But it happens to the best of teams, you are below the standards you’ve set yourself and you pay the price.

“The lads are still massively confident that we can reach the play-offs. There are nine games left and we are relying on other results now but there will be a lot of twists and turns between now and the end of the season.

“There is a good atmosphere around the club and especially in the dressing room, confidence is high and as a group we know that we can do it. But we have to make sure that we don’t let any more points slip away.”

A 14-match unbeaten run, which began with 12 straight victories, put the Celts in contention following a dreadful start to the campaign.

It looked as though they were poised for another long run with three wins and a draw but that was nipped in the bud by their midweek setback.

Miller believes that the squad and management still feel the strength from that original run.

He added: “When we were on that 14 game run as a group we felt invincible, we turned up for games determined to win and we trained hard between to keep things going.

“The training sessions are thorough and we are always prepared well for every game. Winning breeds confidence.

“The management of Neil (Parsley), Lee (Connor) and Minty (Gary Stokes) look after everything and they check on our opponents and get that information across to us.

“It’s a very professional environment and we have a lot of experience in our squad. A lot of our lads have played at a higher level and most have been in this situation before.

“That will definitely be a key factor and, fingers crossed, it will count in our favour.”
