FARSLEY CELTIC'S play-off bid has been boosted by news that Lewis Nightingale is staying put after the winger turned down overtures from a National League club.

The former Bradford Park Avenue forward pledged his future to the Celts after National North high-fliers Chorley made a bid to tempt him away.

The Magpies were beaten by Guiseley in the play-off final last season and were looking to boost their squad for the run-in as they make another tilt at promotion.

Nightingale said: “I feel that this season is still very much alive with it all to play for. We have a real chance of getting into the play-offs and I want to give all I can to make sure we finish the season strong and hopefully end up in one of those places.

“This club is a great place to play, it suits my style of play and the lads are great to be around. I feel very much at home here. For the rest of the season the goal is to try and win every game to finish in one of the play-off places.

“Then it’ll be down to one-off games where anything can happen and we’ll see where we end up. We need to go on another run now, which hopefully started with the win at the weekend and the draw at Kendal on Tuesday.

“We are more than capable of doing that with the players in the squad.”

Jordan Deacey scored the winner against Ossett Albion last Saturday and set up Nightingale to score Farsley’s goal in the 1-1 draw at Kendal.

Farsley are in their current position courtesy of a remarkable 14-game unbeaten run of which 12 were victories. That hot streak ended with a defeat in the League Cup on penalties and was followed by a 3-0 loss in the league at promotion rivals Burscough.

Everyone at the club is hoping the last two results are the beginning of another magnificent sequence.
