ALL bar one of the Evo-Stik Division One North fixtures fell foul of the incessant rain on Boxing Day, which means there has been little change to the league positions ahead of tomorrow’s round of fixtures.

Farsley were denied a home fixture against relegation-threatened Harrogate Railway on Saturday and face a much sterner task tomorrow as they head to promotion-chasing Spennymoor Town.

Neil Parsley’s men were the only side to be affected by the one game on Saturday to escape the horrendous conditions in the north.

Farsley slipped one place to 17th after Witton Albion took a point from the visit of Warrington Town.

The title-chasing Wires remained second in the table after missing the chance to overhaul Northwich Victoria at the summit.

The Celts have not tasted defeat since losing 2-0 at home to National League neighbours FC Halifax Town in the West Riding County Cup way back at the start of November.

They will be hoping that Boxing Day’s inactivity will not affect their momentum, and they have two players who, more than most, will be itching to get back into action.

Aaron Hardy and Aiden Savory are both available again after recent suspensions and were hoping to be involved in Saturday’s shelved derby with Railway.

Spennymoor will be tough opponents though as they look for their tenth win of the season from their 19th league start.

The home side are four points outside the play-off places but have played fewer games than four of the six clubs above them.

They have only lost once at home this term and have the meanest defence outside the top two.

Brighouse Town were also thwarted by the weather on Saturday as their Boxing Day derby at promotion rivals Ossett Albion was also postponed.

Town are due a home fixture tomorrow as, weather permitting, struggling Scarborough Athletic make the journey to the Dual Seal Stadium.

Brighouse boss Paul Quinn is looking for a reaction from his players following a disappointing 5-1 home defeat to lowly Witton last time out. Quinn will not allow his charges to forget that they are still trying to bounce back from that result.

Farsley will also be hoping for a win for their local rivals as Scarborough are on the same points as the Celts.

Parsley’s men have a far superior goal difference and a game in hand on the east-coast outfit.
