FARSLEY Celtic face an intriguing FA Trophy first qualifying round tie tomorrow as they pit themselves against up-and-coming Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

The Barnsley-based outfit were promoted to the Evo-Stik League last May as Northern Counties East League Premier Division champions.

They are second in Division One South, while Neil Parsley’s men are struggling in the lower reaches of the North section.

However, despite the results the Celts have endured, they have taken sides all the way in almost every game of the season.

They were particularly unfortunate to lose 1-0 at home to divisional leaders Warrington Town last weekend, and have given other top sides tough games.

Parsley’s men are also defending a decent cup record this term as they have played five ties in knockout competitions and have lost just one.

They had an impressive 4-0 win over league rivals Prescot Cables in the preliminary round to reach this stage of the Trophy, but that was at home.

Farsley’s neighbours Brighouse Town are at Warrington Town.

It will be a tough tie for Paul Quinn’s side, but if league form is anything to go by it should be a close game.

Both sides have only lost two league fixtures so far, and Brighouse are sixth but have two games in hand on the Yellows.

Knockout form could be an issue as Quinn’s men exited the FA Cup to lower-league opposition.

Brighouse face a trip to National League North promotion contenders Harrogate Town in the West Riding County Cup on Monday, and will be keen to avoid going out of two knockout competitions in three days.
