FARSLEY Celtic have had to wait an extra week to make their return to competitive action – but they waited five years to get their name back so that is why they are holding a 'Celebrate Celtic' day at Throstle Nest against Kendal Town.
The Evo-Stik League opening weekend sees Farsley hosting their long-term rivals, while neighbours BRIGHOUSE TOWN make the short trip across the Pennines into Manchester to take on Trafford.
The Celts have arranged a lot of events to make it a special day and they are trying to raise funds for charity and their community projects. But the main attraction for spectators is that it will be free entry to the game.
Neil Parsley's men kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 3-0 defeat against neighbours Bradford City, local hero James Hanson netting twice, but they ended it with three consecutive wins. The final one was last Saturday when they enjoyed a 1-0 victory at higher-ranked Blyth Spartans.
Brighouse also ended their pre-season with three wins and their seven games against a variety of opposition should have prepared them well for the new campaign.
