FARSLEY Celtic boss Neil Parsley is hoping to bring new signings in but believes he will do most of his business very late in the pre-season build-up.

The Evo-Stik League kicks off three weeks today – a week later than most of the other leagues on the pyramid.

While Farsley's supporters may be disappointed by that, Parsley feels the extra week could be crucial.

"Our budget has gone down a little bit, while the budgets have gone up at some of the other clubs, and that has made things difficult in this pre-season," said the Celts boss.

"There are some big clubs in our division and in our area and we're battling with them for the best players – but we're not in the best position.

"We have held talks with players and we have our eyes open and our ears to the ground but I think we're going to have to be patient."

Four players have left Farsley since the end of last term, while three have come in – Neil Stevens, Nick Guest and Kyle Harrison.

Parsley knows there is room and the finances for further additions and he and the club's hierarchy are on the case.

He said: "We're still working on bringing fresh blood to the club. There could be three or even four new signings before the season gets underway.

"There are key areas that we want to strengthen and players we would like to bring in but, as ever in pre-season, the players are keeping their options open.

"I think we're going to have to wait until the other clubs have done their business and then see who is still available.

"Some clubs are offering over the odds at the moment – and good luck to them if they want to go down that route."

Parsley is delighted to get Harrison back on a permanent basis and is also happy with the work his assistant Mark Jackson has done with the club's academy.

"Kyle was with us on loan from Guiseley last season, so we know just how good a player and a prospect he is," said Parsley.

"We're very happy to get him back and he will be a great addition to the squad and give us competition for places in the defensive area.

"We finished with four 17-year-olds on the pitch against Park Avenue last week after all of the substitutions and they all did well, so we have the talent coming through."
