Kendal Town 0, Farsley 3

FARSLEY enjoyed a rare success at Kendal Town as they banked a maximum that kept them in the play-off zone in Evo-Stik Division One North.

The Lakeside club have always been a thorn in Farsley’s side, and last season they beat Neil Parsley’s men on three occasions. But they contributed to their own demise at the Lancaster and Morecambe College ground on Saturday by conceding two penalties, the second of which reduced them to ten men as their keeper picked up a second yellow card.

Following the goalless first half, Lewis Nightingale netted the first penalty in the 47th minute after Aiden Savory had been fouled. Then home keeper Stuart Dixon was dismissed in the 72nd minute when he fouled Adam Priestley, and Nightingale was again on target.

With no keeper on the bench for Kendal, an outfield player had to don the gloves, but the ten men refused to roll over and Jordan Connerton hit a post as they looked to reduce the arrears before Priestley finished them off with a low strike from the edge of the area three minutes from time.

Parsley said: “It was a great win, great team performance, great three points and a clean sheet – a good day all-round.

“The second goal, the one that culminated in their keeper being sent off, was from a superb move. Kyle Hancock had played a fantastic through ball for Adam and he looked likely to score before being fouled.

“To go to Kendal and get three points is fantastic. It’s my first win ever up there.

"I don’t think it gives us any revenge for last year. Last year’s gone. It is all about what’s happening now, and this win keeps us up there on the coat-tails of the pacesetters.”
