FARSLEY Celtic were frustrated by Droylsden at Throstle Nest as they had to settle for a point – but they did retain the leadership of Evo-Stik Division One North.

As the Celts were struggling to break down the Bloods, their title rivals Lancaster City were also suffering at home.

The Dolly Blues lost 2-1 to a Colne side who remain in the play-off places on goal difference after their win.

The Celts edged a tight game during a goalless first half and took a 74th minute lead with a stunning strike.

Farsley midfielder Ryan Watson almost broke the net as he rifled home a drive from 25 yards after a corner was half cleared. It was a goal worthy of winning any game but it didn’t win this one.

Bloods substitute Jamie Frost capitalised when Celts keeper Graeme McKibbon hesitated five minutes from time, with the forward lobbing the ball over the stopper.

Farsley’s joint manager Neil Parsley said: “They are all hard games at this stage of the season and although I was disappointed that we only got a point I thought a draw was about fair.

“They had some great chances and Graeme made a very good save, while Nathan (Turner) cleared one off the line so we could easily have lost it."

Rivals Brighouse Town earned three points, registering an impressive 2-1 win at Kendal Town.

The visitors took an early lead when Ben Wharton headed Adam Baker’s fifth minute cross over Will Kitchen, and the home keeper was beaten again – from another header – as James Pollard converted a corner on the stroke of half-time.

Kendal’s Sam Bailey completed the scoring when he volleyed in a late consolation goal.

Vaughan Redford gave Sedge a fifth-minute lead but Clee hit back with goals from Liam Davis and Jonathan Ogelsby in a two-minute spell midway through the first half.

Sedge were level at the break thanks to a Brandon Kane strike but Peter Winn and Andrew Taylor were on target for Clee in the second half.

Thackley lost 1-0 at Staveley MW with Steven Carty heading the game’s only goal from a 43rd minute corner.

The Dennyboys dominated the second half but the home keeper made a superb save to deny Ryan Farrell before Dan Broadbent had a header disallowed and Sam Robinson smacked a shot onto the bar.

There were defeats for both of the local representatives in Division One as Eccleshill United lost 1-0 at home, with Liam Flanagan hitting Selby Town’s winner on the stroke of half-time.
