West Riding County Cup first round: Eccleshill United 1 Ossett Town 5
ECCLESHILL United were dumped out in cruel fashion as their Evo-Stik League opponents went nap at the Mitton Group Stadium.
The visitors broke the deadlock in only the third minute as a free-kick caused problems for the home defence and a header back across goal was volleyed in by Danny Frost.
A deep cross led to the second as a header from Ossett Town’s skipper Tyrone Gay doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 17th minute.
A quickly taken free-kick soon after caught the home side napping and, although the first effort was beaten away, Darol Lucas rifled in Town’s third.
Eccleshill pegged one back on the stroke of half-time when Marcus Edwards netted after a defensive error but there was to be no second-half comeback as the visitors stretched their lead ten minutes after the interval when Reece Farnhill slotted home.
The Eagles then contributed to the final nail in their coffin when a poor pass allowed Jake Siddall to wrap up the scoring with a tap-in.
