THACKLEY got back to winning ways in the Northern Counties East League in some style with a 5-0 home victory.

Visitors Glasshoughton Welfare are struggling just above the Premier Division trapdoor but it was still an important win.

It ended a winless run of four games for the Dennyboys, who themselves were a lowly 16th.

Mike Garrod started the scoring early as he broke the deadlock after just two minutes and Thomas Dugdale netted Thackley's second minutes later.

Jermaine Springer added the third on the half-hour mark, with Garrod and Dugdale both on target again in the second half.

The three points gained lifted Thackley up three places to 13th in the table.

Eccleshill United's bubble was burst as they went down 3-1 at Shirebrook Town in Division One.

The Eagles had won their previous eight league games in succession but were off the boil on Saturday.

The home side took a first-half lead when James Queere turned the ball past his own keeper minutes before the break.

Keiron Watson nudged Shirebrook 2-0 up just before the hour.

And even though the Eagles pegged one back through John Rogers, the hosts restored their two-goal cushion as Watson bagged his brace.

Eccleshill remain third in the section despite their defeat.
