There was a sting in the tale for Division B champions Apperley Bridge on the final day of the Dales Council League season on their visit to runners-up Tong Manor.

The visitors were dismissed for 151 and this proved far too small a total for Tong and run machine Steve Phillips in particular.

Phillips finished unbeaten on 102 – his third century of the campaign – as a ten-wicket victory ensued.

There were also nine-wicket wins for Farnley Hill at Hepworth & Idle (37), Pudsey Congs (Garry Lewsley 79no) at home to Thornbury (154 – Mark Ferguson 6-40) and Adel as they hosted Drighlington /Whitehall (138).

The day’s outstanding bowling achievement also occurred in this section as Colin Oates of Cookridge returned 9-28 at Pudsey St Lawrence, who were tumbled out for a mere 46 in reply to his side’s total of just 84.

Meanwhile, Division A champions Leeds Sikh (211-8) signed off in winning style led by skipper Ragu Chandrasekaran, who first hit 70 not out and then returned 5-51 as visitors Saville Stars were all out just short at 202.

Halifax Direct (Adil Wahid 59) made it eight wins on the trot to finish third, their latest success being by seven wickets against visiting Shipley Providence (100 – Naz Khan 6-33).

Also finishing on a high note were Hepworth & Idle (167-9 – Mark Saunders 69no, Doug Richardson 4-24) following their 85-run win at rock-bottom Crompark (82 – Tim Shackleton 4-34).

Apperley Bridge (156 – Umar Nisar Khan 75) went down by five wickets at home to Baildon (Tawqiur Ahmed 71no).

Tong Park Esholt (80 – Johnny Holden 5-22) completed a cup and league double despite losing at home to runners-up Undercliffe (135-7 – Ian Pratt 63no) in Division C .
