A half century from Bradford-born Anthony McGrath helped Yorkshire continue to amass a commanding second-innings lead during the afternoon session on day three against Essex.
By tea, the advantage was up to 340 runs with the Tykes on 205-6.
McGrath was unbeaten on 57, with Azeem Rafiq also impressing to reach the interval on 49.
They came together in the first over of the session after Andrew Hodd had fallen for only one to Tom Craddock to leave Yorkshire on 111-5.
