A year ago, Thackley and Ben Rhydding were celebrating being champions of their divisions in the Aire Wharfe League, tomorrow they face matches to avoid being relegated with Adel.

Thackley claimed the Division One title last year but never looked like challenging again and a run that has seen them take only one point from their last four matches puts them on 44 points, just above the drop zone.

Ben Rhydding stormed the Division Two title with 102 points but have struggled in the top flight. However, their recent form, including a gutsy display in narrowly losing the Waddilove Cup final, has raised hopes they might escape the drop.

They remain four points worse off than Thackley going into tomorrow’s clash with Kirkstall, a side that only made sure of their own security last week. It’s a tough ask but Ben Rhydding will recall that with Jason Wright hitting 67 and taking 4-19, they had Kirkstall within two wickets of defeat when rain interrupted their first meeting.

Thackley meanwhile entertain fifth-placed Otley and much will depend on the performance of their championship-winning attack of Nasser Jamal and Yasser Ali to see them hang on to their top-flight status.

Steeton , who were promoted with Ben Rhydding, have had an outstanding season and are certain to finish in fourth place. They also have the chance to influence the title outcome when they face leaders Collingham, who need just two points to complete a league and Waddilove Cup double.

The side cheering Steeton on will be Beckwithshaw, who have won more games and lost fewer than Collingham but have had twice as many games lost to rain as the leaders. They need to beat Follifoot and hope Steeton can down Collingham.

Burley are sure to repeat their third place of last season but having won their last four outings, victory over Bilton will give Nick Brook’s side the chance to take second spot if Beckwithshaw slip up.

Guiseley , who meet Adel, are in a disappointing eighth despite notable wins over the top two in the league.

Harden take on Calverley safe in the knowledge that they have already secured promotion as Division Two champions but there is a dog fight going on behind them for the second spot.

Pool are in pole position and a winning draw against Bardsey will be enough to send them up.

Lurking four points back, waiting for a slip-up are Rawdon and Green Lane.

With Joe Loorham in impressive batting form, Rawdon should win at bottom club Olicanian but Lane face a much tougher task at Knaresborough, who have won their last five.

Ilkley have won three of their last four and should be too strong for North Leeds, while Bolton Villas will expect to finish the season with a win over Upper Wharfedale.

With Colton and Tong Park Esholt already promoted from Division Three, attention focuses on the re-election spots, where five points separate the bottom three.

Skipton are currently bottom and face a difficult trip to New Rover, who are always capable of running up a big score at home.

Perennial whipping boys Alwoodley entertain Hall Park with a win over Illingworth under their belts and any kind of success could see them climb out of the bottom two if Horsforth slip up at Addingham .

There will be plenty of pride at stake when third-placed Menston , with Gareth Lee in immense form, seek to become only the second side to beat Colton, and also when fourth-placed Illingworth tackle Tong Park Esholt, for whom Nadeem Hanif has picked up 27 wickets in the last six outings.

Silsden will be seeking victory over Woodhouse to ensure they keep their top-half status.
