Yorkshire’s bowlers stunned Leicestershire during the afternoon session of day two to take charge of their County Championship clash at Scarborough.
After posting 447 in their first innings, Ryan Sidebottom and Anthony McGrath struck twice apiece to reduce the visitors to 50-5 from 25 overs at tea.
Sidebottom, who trapped Matt Boyce lbw and had Jacques Du Toit caught behind – both for ducks – also contributed to a run of seven successive maidens with the new ball.
Steve Patterson then had opener Greg Smith caught behind for 12, with all three wickets falling while Leicestershire’s score was on 12.
Josh Cobb reached the break on 21 not out but he saw McGrath, Ajmal Shahzad’s replacement in the Yorkshire team, strike two lbw blows in his first two overs.
He got rid of Ramnaresh Sarwan with his second ball before also getting rid of Ned Eckersley.
McGrath had earlier posted 90 in Yorkshire’s impressive total, highlighted by Jonny Bairstow’s 182.
