Mewies Solicitors Craven League club Sutton have banned one of their players for ten matches, four of which were suspended until the end of the 2012 season.

The punishment to Kane Booker has come as a result of the Division Two match at home to Ingrow on the last day of the season on September 10.

The contest, which was halted with two overs to go because of bad light, included outbursts of foul and abusive language.

Booker took great exception to the umpire’s decision and let him know in no uncertain terms, and Sutton’s skipper twice had to intervene and guide his player away.

Sutton later decided on the punishment but the league’s disciplinary committee have extended the suspended sentence until the end of the 2013 season.

Meanwhile, the League’s executive committee have chosen the dates for their cup competitions later this year to avoid the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Wynn Cup (first teams) will be played on May 20, June 10, July 1, July 22 and August 12 (final), with the Cowling Cup (second teams) dates being May 27, June 17, July 8, July 29 and August 19 (final).

The league season will start on April 21 and finish on September 15.

* The Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League have brought in the free-hit rule for their Jack Hampshire Trophy ties this year.

The new rule states: “Front-foot no-balls are to be penalised by the next ball being given a free hit.

“The usual no-ball rule applies for ways of being dismissed from the free hit”.

Clubs will also be under pressure regarding bowling their 40 overs in cup ties.

Rule 6.4 states: “Any team not bowling their 40 overs within 2hr 35min shall be fined £2 per minute over the allotted time for each match where failure to do so is reported by the umpires”.

The league have also given themselves the power to take action against any club or individual who make comments on social networking sites which could be deemed to be derogatory towards the league or its officers or which is thought to bring the game into disrepute.

Clubs in the Premier Division and Division One must now score their matches ball by ball on their Netbook, posting their scores during the game to the internet via the Total Cricket Scorer (TCS) system.
