Headingley will host Test-match cricket for the next five years.

South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will all visit the Leeds venue between 2012 and 2016 after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced their major-match group packages.

Yorkshire opted not to bid for an Ashes Test in either 2013 or 2015, with chairman Colin Graves citing a bidding cost of £2m per fixture.

But Australia will play one-day internationals against England in 2013 and 2015, the latter coming hot on the heels of the World Cup Down Under.

The West Indies and world champions India and Pakistan will also play 50-over matches against Alastair Cook’s men in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Yorkshire did not host a Test match this summer, but lost £1m on the staging of the neutral Test between Pakistan and Australia in 2010.

After South Africa v England next summer, which could well be a clash between the two best Test teams in the world, New Zealand will visit in 2013 and 2015 and Sri Lanka in 2014 and 2016.

The venues for the 2013 and 2015 Ashes series were also announced today.

Lord’s, Trent Bridge, Old Trafford, Durham’s Riverside and The Oval all get 2013 Tests, while Lord’s, Trent Bridge, Cardiff, Edgbaston and The Oval all get 2015 Tests.
