Yorkshire had still not taken a wicket by tea today as Hampshire batsmen Michael Carberry and Neil McKenzie march on relentlessly.
The only possible outcome of this LV= County Championship match at the Rose Bowl is a draw.
Carberry and McKenzie had put on a mammoth and unbroken 523 for the third wicket as Hampshire responded to Yorkshire’s first-innings total of 532 with 582-2 from 150 overs.
Carberry had made his way to 287 not out off 416 balls and McKenzie to 237 not out off 410 balls.
By this stage the pair had hit 65 fours and four sixes between them, both recording career bests.
Records have tumbled and they are only 33 runs away from making this the highest-ever partnership in County Championship history.
They are also 102 runs away from breaking the world partnership record.
Only Andrew Gale and wicketkeeper Gerard Brophy have not had a bowl for Yorkshire.
