Jacques Rudolph fell for 99 in the latter stages of the afternoon but Yorkshire have bossed the first two sessions during the opening day of their LV= County Championship match against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.
The South African left-hander, in his second four-day match since returning to White Rose colours, clipped former Nashua Titans team-mate Imran Tahir to Dominic Cork at mid-wicket, bringing to an end his 211-ball knock.
That left the score at 204-3, and the visitors have since advanced to 211-3 from 72 overs.
Yorkshire also lost captain Andrew Gale, also caught at mid-wicket by James Vince off the leg-spin of Tahir for a determined 54.
He and Rudolph shared 129 for the second wicket inside 32 overs.
Anthony McGrath has reached 26 at tea but was dropped at short-leg by Jimmy Adams on 20 off Tahir.
