There was a minor surprise in the Dales Council League's Pool Paper Mills Cup final when Division B leaders Apperley Bridge inflicted the first defeat in 18 games on Division A leaders Leeds Sikh at Pudsey Congs on Sunday.
Bridge were indebted to man of the match Ghiyas Ahmed and Zafar Jadoon, who both hit 59 while chasing down Sikhs 248-7 (Arularasan Gopalasamy 58) to win by four wickes with ten balls to go.
With six games to go in the league programme, Bridge, who have played some explosive cricket in Division B, look certanties to be promoted and are favourites to land the B Division title, which would complete a memorable double in their first season in the league.
