Runs flowed in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League last weekend with two scores in excess of 300 and several in the high 200s.

There was also a dramatic tie involving one of the leading teams.

Cullingworth, one of the First Division joint leaders, entertained third-placed Haworth Road and restricted them to 168, with Chris Griggs making 58 as Phil Poole claimed 4-68.

The Roydwood Terrace side reached their target for the loss of six wickets, led by Gareth Marshall (49).

The dramatic tie came at fourth-placed Crossflatts where Oakworth, the other joint leaders, were the visitors.

Paul Spragg (57) and Jack Hainsworth (42) helped the Cure Hill side to a modest, by recent form, 150 as A Saeed spun his way to 7-48.

The hosts were sailing along at 149-6 and getting ready to celebrate. Up stepped Lewis Wrathall and Greg Hudson and two wickets went without addition.

A single was scored, then the ninth wicket went down, quickly followed by the last one as Wrathall finished with 3-17 and Hudson 3-18. This after Amer Ayub had hit 84 and Mick Brooksbank 39 to be followed by no less than six ducks.

Fifth-placed Bingley Congs were in clinical form when Thornton visited them.

The Booth Bridge Laners, ravaged by holiday commitments and injury, could only muster 67 in 29 overs as Neil Copping (5-15) and Adie Dibb (5-49) bowled through. Anthony Reedy was the highest score with 22.

The Beckfoot Lane side lost three wickets reaching their target in 16.1 overs, with Chris Hemsley making 29.

Haworth eased their relegation fears by beating Cononley by 139 runs.

The Bronte side rattled up 284-2 with Richard Gaunt (71no) and Jamie Rowell (70) putting on 149 for the first wicket, and Reece White scored 55 not out and Peter Gower 51.

The South Craveners' innings ground to 146-5 in their 45 overs, with Herbie Starkey top-scoring with 65 not out.

The relegation battle between Embsay and Cowling turned out to be a run feast.

Duncan Ward, who hit a magnificent 140 not out, and David Wellock put on 152 for the second wicket which laid the platform for what looked to be a match- winning 289-3.

However, the visitors were not going to lie down and roll over.

Led by a fabulous 150 from Martyn Dalby and 73 from Charlie Hassan – they put on 104 for the fourth wicket - they galloped to the points for the loss of five wickets with just two balls to spare.

Cowling are now just a point behind Embsay and three behind Bradley, who slumped to a 159-run defeat at the hands of Barrowford.

The Bull Holme side amassed 264-6, led by Andrew Smith (76) and Wasim Ali (66). Bradley slumped to 105 all out, with Peter Hebert making 30 as Ajmal Choudrhy claimed 4-30.

Airedale look to have an unassailable ten-point lead at the top of the Second Division.

They travelled to Glusburn and amassed 308-8, which included a third-wicket stand of 120 by Imran Zaman (90) and Joe Milner (56).

The Park Field side slumped to 77-6 before some tail- wagging got the score to 171, with 36 extras helping the cause.

Second-placed Sandy Lane slumped to a confidence- sapping 196-run defeat at home to Sutton.

A Razza top-scored with 80 not out to go with 63 from Chris Williams and 40 from Andy Kay, which helped the score to 267-5.

The Greenwood Park side collapsed to 71 all out as Rob Walker (5-31) and Justin Holdsworth (3-35) did the damage.

Third-placed Ingrow also suffered defeat, at the hands of Long Lee down the road at Golden View.

The home side had Matt Taylor (52) Steve Butterfield (36no) and Jan Haider (31) to thank for their 215-7 as Dale Hoyle took 4-57.

The Hainworth side could only manage 149 in reply. Mark Price top-scored with 29 as Taylor took 3-22.

There was a humdinger of a game at Chatburn, where Wilsden were visiting.

Steve Wright (60), Andy Watson (52) and N Singh (52) saw the Windy Grove side to 237 as John Lockley bowled through and finished with 4-107.

Once again the Ribble Valley side built their innings around a cracking 116 by youngster Mark Nerenberg and 58 from Neil Cartledge – the pair putting on 118 for the fourth wicket, which helped them home by two wickets with just six balls to go. Dipesh Mistry finished with 4-59 off 15 overs.

Ten-man Embsay II were blasted for 275-9 at Foulridge. David Spokes, with a super 141, was the mainstay of the innings as Ben Airey took 4-70. The Shires Laners were never in the hunt and closed on 109, with Kafeer Ishfaq taking 5-33.

Riddlesden’s trip to Pendle Forest proved fruitful – eventually.

Held up by the Cowling Gala, they had a late start and posted 170-8, with Nasar Kamal making 54 and Goher Ayub 33. Nick Daniel was the most successful bowler with 5-41.

The Fence side had three players injured while fielding, including Phil Swarbrick, who was taken to hospital with a badly dislocated shoulder, and they closed 34 short of target as Alex Summerscales made 36 and Israr Shah took 4-22.

Third Division leaders Oakworth II were in imperious form at home to Skipton CI.

The Cure Hill side made 227-9 with Steve Hartley (53), Steve Powell (51) and Nivard Trowers (45) being the main contributors as John Stuttard took 5-80 off 22 overs.

The visitors were never in the hunt and closed on 94, with extras 17 and Chris Windle 14 being the main run-getters. Jack Ellis took 4-34 and Ian Jackson 3-20.

Second-placed Ingrow St John’s, three points behind the leaders, were at Haworth Road and won by 98 runs.

Haworth West End are third, seven points off a promotion spot.

They entertained Glusburn II and scored 203 with Joe Bottomley hitting a glorious 124 as the bowling honours went to James McDonald, who took 7-40 off ten overs. Corey Benfield then took 5-39 as the Park Field side slumped to 67 all out.

Denholme brushed aside Eldwick & Gilstead by eight wickets. The latter went first and made a creditable 188-6, with Stephen Timperley making 74. Joe Greenwood (102no) and Rob Taylor (60) led the hosts comfortably to the points.

There was a low-scoring game at Gargrave, where Crossflatts II got home by two wickets, with C Durne (40no) putting in the match-winning performance.

Cullingworth II walloped the day’s highest score - 325-3 - at luckless Cononley II. Martin Rendell made a splendid 102no, George Fletcher 78 and Andy Partington 52 as skipper J Granger took the only wickets to fall for 122 off 23 hard overs.

Then R Mansell made 42 as the home side collapsed to 76 all out, Russell Hogg (5-36) and Dave Etherington (5-36) doing the damage.

Barrowford II continue to lead the Fourth Division by four points after demolishing Long Lee II by nine wickets at Bull Holme. Jonny Ormerod (4-26 and 23no) was the main performer, with David Wilkinson top scoring with 32no.

Cowling Cup finalists Little Marsden were made to work hard for the points that kept them in second place, by Riddlesden II.

Dale Pinkerton (59) was the main contributor to the Grange Road side's 144-6. Then Shoaib Ashraf (53) and Hamed Bahskh (56) saw the red-rose side home by two wickets.

Sandy Lane II had a good win at Morton, beating Ingrow St John’s II by five wickets, with T Rana (60no) being the backbone of their innings.

Nick Copping (57no), Paul Scott (48) and Martin Casey (6-52) were the stars in Ingrow II's four-wicket win over Chatburn II.

Bradford & Bingley III were restricted to 106 at home to Pendle Forest II. However this was sufficient as the Fence side could only muster 80 in reply.

Neil Lambert (57) and Robbie Smith (52) put on 97 for Bradley II's first wicket at Wilsden II.

The innings closed on 224-9, with Dave Collins taking 4-42. Then Alex Jowett (88) and Alan King (46) set up a thrilling two-wicket win off the penultimate ball.

Haworth II maintained their grip on the leadership of the Fifth Division after beating Thornton II by three wickets on their own midding.

Jeff Tipler (62) was the mainstay of the hosts' 150-4. Then Adrian Ratcliffe (69) held the reply together.

Bingley Congs II are four points adrift in second spot after seeing of Sutton II by 32 runs at Royd Hill.

The home side’s David Holdsworth took 5-21 while Matthew Hagerty claimed 7-31 for the visitors.

Haworth West End II put in a lacklustre performance on their travels to third-placed Airedale II.

Only Liam Chipman (38) showed any form as Alan Hayes (3-15) and Jason Ahad (3-27) did most of the damage. Then skipper Nick Ahad (55no) saw his side to the spoils by nine wickets .

Foulridge II beat Pendle Forest III by nine wickets, and Eldwick & Gilstead II saw off Gargrave II by two wickets.

Skipton CI II were dismissed for 117 by Denholme II at Sandylands. Dave Suter junior top-scored with 31no as Cameron Foster took 4-36 and Katie Briggs 3-32. The visitors then slumped to defeat by just 14 runs, despite 48 from Adrian Shires, with Sam Smith (5-40)and Paul Smith (3-11) doing the damage.

Finally, the record holder for the highest number of wickets taken in a season (98 in 1977), Ray Jones, rolled back the years as he had the astonishing figures of 5-1 off eight overs playing for Cowling II.

Opponents Oakworth III slumped from 82-4 to 104 all out as he got to work. Cowling II went on to win by six wickets.
