Haworth Road secured the Bradford & District Evening League Division One title after their win at Baildon Meths.

Coming in with the score at 50-3, Mohammed Zahid made 45 not out to help the away side to 106-5 off 16 overs.

Baildon got off to a steady start, but the introduction of past league winner Andrew Gudgeon, who took three key wickets, saw the impetus swing the visitors' way.

A resilient 29 not out from home skipper Darren Wilson was not enough as his team finished on 86-7. Haworth Road finished level on points with Denholme. Both teams had the same number of wins, so Charlie Hainsworth’s team won the title by virtue of having the better average.

Luke Holroyd (51no) and Scott Etherington (48no) secured a ten-wicket win for Windhill over Sandy Lane, while John Breare and Thornton finished their season with wins over Allerton and Bingley Congs respectively.

Azad gained promotion as they won a high-scoring encounter against Cambing.

N Ahsan (42no) top-scored as Azad made a competitive 162-6. Cambing lost a wicket without scoring a run, but then F Wasir (55no) and J Khan (39) put the home side in with a good chance of winning.

However, two run outs proved crucial as Cambing finished on 151-3.

Division Two champions Apperley Bridge ensured that they finished the season unbeaten as they beat Indian Panthers at home by five wickets.

Jordan Towers took three wickets in a devastating spell to help dismiss Shelf for 74 in their reply to Bolton Villas’ 146-5.

Elsewhere, Daisy Hill and Queensbury made sure that they finished their first season in the league with wins over HSA and Mayfield respectively.

All clubs are reminded to e-mail averages to the league secretary no later than Saturday, August 13.
