An attempt to speed up play in the Towergate Halifax League has been knocked back.
The proposed new rule gave clubs a maximum of 2hr 45min to bowl their 45 overs (an average of 18 overs per hour), plus a maximum of 15 minutes.
Teams running over this three-hour limit would have been liable to a fine determined by the number of overs bowled after the deadline but the motion failed 22-6.
Proposed rule changes about keeping the league amateur will be discussed at an extraordinary general meeting prior to February’s league meeting.
