CRICKET: Four new clubs have been admitted to the Bradford & District Evening League – Azad (based at Girlington), Queensbury, Cross Roads-Daisy Hill and Apperley Bridge.
The resignation of Crossflatts and Tong Park-Esholt means the league will have only 20 clubs next season, Horsforth Hall Park having previously withdrawn their application.
The constitution of the league has yet to be finalised but Shelf’s proposal to go back to two geographical divisions, rather than two based on merit, did not find a seconder.
Les Gudgeon (Haworth Road) said: “The rule that the away team bats first means that away teams do not need to have 11 players there at the start of a match.”
