Yorkshire duo Joe Root and David Wainwright will spend time on ECB-run training camps later this winter.
Wainwright has been selected to go to India early in 2011 on a specific spin bowling camp with fellow left-armer Simon Kerrigan from Lancashire and batting pair James Vince (Hampshire) and Jos Buttler (Somerset).
Former England under-19s batsman Root is one of ten young players to be selected for the ECB’s scholarship programme. He will spend the majority of his winter playing grade cricket and training in Adelaide.
Wainwright went on the England Lions tour to the UAE last winter but had a season to forget this summer due to injury and loss of form.
Root, meanwhile, has been highlighted as one of the White Rose county’s young players who could step up and fill the hole at the top of the order left by South African Jacques Rudolph.
