The damp conditions through the week mainly helped the bowlers in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League, although Oakworth would disagree with that. Their three teams amassed 870 runs between them.

Division One Bradley, rattled up 236-6, with Chris Capstick making 62, Craig Tempest 50 and Matt Simpson hammering 52 not out off 11 balls. He took 34 off the last over bowled by Steve Richardson.

In reply ,Cowling were 18-2 after 8.3 overs when play stopped because of rain, Simpson taking those two wickets.

The leaders now have a five-point cushion following the demise of Cullingworth at Baildon Bottom.

Haworth Road had made a modest 136 with A Rauf top-scoring with 35 as Dave Robinson took 4-48 - this after being 12-4.

The Roydwood Terrace side were hustled out for 95, Mansha Khan taking 5-46 and Mohammed Zahid 4-41 as Nigel Brett made 41.

Crossflatts draw level with Cullingworth on points after a crushing ten-wicket win at Embsay.

The Shires Lane side stumbled to 81 all out in 34.2 overs, with Bob Bateman making 25 as Cammi Ayub took 4-14.

In reply, Mick Brooksbank made 52no and Josh Brooksbank 29no in 18.3 overs. Embsay have now gone 45 overs without taking a wicket while conceding 238 runs.

Bingley Congs entertained ten-man Haworth and hustled them out for 110. Jamie Rowell made 44 as Neil Copping took 4-47 and Andrew Copping 3-26. The Beckfoot side lost five wickets reaching their target, Neil Copping scoring 34.

Glusburn won the toss and invited Oakworth to bat first – wrong decision!

The Park Field side were savaged to the tune of 315-3. Drew Duffy and Michael Scarborough put on 156 for the third wicket, when the former went for 101, his maiden century.

The latter was joined by Rob Hopkinson and they put on an undefeated 97 in 5.3 overs. Scarborough finished on 114no and Hopkinson 51no. The home side had made 30 in 14 overs when the ground was flooded.

In the basement battle, Ingrow had posted 184-7. Cononley were going reasonably well at 60-1 when rain stopped play – a result which helped neither team as they battle to get away from the bottom.

Division Two leaders Thornton took advantage of their nearest rivals being held up by the weather to open up a 12-point gap after they brushed aside Wilsden by ten wickets at Windy Grove.

The home side were knocked over for 93, Mark Laycock taking 4-33. The Booth Bridge Laners galloped home in 16 overs. A win on Saturday will be enough to put Thornton back in the top division.

Barrowford looked to be well on their way to the points at home to Long Lee.

The Golden View side had been dismissed for 137, with Richard Ayrton making 37 and Jonathan Green 34. Danny Jones took 3-29 and Nick Burton 3-30.

M Taylor was 39no as the Bull Holme side raced to 50-1. However, the rain returned and both captains shook hands.

Ten-man Sandy Lane had Luke Ellis (79) and Mark Oldfield (41) to thank for helping them to 213-9 as Rishabh Jain took 5-44. Ten-man visitors Riddlesden had reached 98-4 when stumps were drawn, with Jain making 53 as Ellis claimed 4-43.

Perhaps Ingrow St John’s should have kept an eye on the weather and declared.

They amassed 265-8, Mohammed Mansha top-scoring with 65. Visitors Haworth West End were on the ropes at 27-6 when the match was abandoned. M Tariq had taken 3-14 off ten overs.

Ten-man bottom side Sutton had made a moderate 132-9, Gary Williams hitting 40no as Peter Hakin took 6-42. Pendle Forest had replied with 23-0.

The top three in Division Three all managed to win their games.

Leaders Embsay II faced a tricky game at Eldwick & Gilstead. The home side batted first and lost a couple of wickets early on before Danny Hook and Jack Stephenson staged a recovery.

Hook went for 23, and after 26 overs they were 99-3 - a good platform for a big score. Stephenson went for 50 and the visitors turned the screw, restricting them to 49 runs in the last 19 overs as the innings closed on 141. Jonathan Coward finished with 5-49 and Simon Holt 3-30.

The visitors also found scoring difficult and were 70-5 off 27 overs. Coward was joined by his captain Brian Hodgson and the pair took the score to 140, where the former was dismissed for 69, which included five sixes and eight fours.

The target was reached without further problems with Hodgson on 33no. Andy Maude put in a good performance with the ball, finishing with 3-47 off 20 overs.

Second-placed Gargrave were at home to Haworth Road II and made full use of their covers during the game to ensure they got a result.

Tom Cowburn took 7-40 as the Baildon Bottom side were dismissed for 65. Then Lee Barrett made 33no to lead the hosts to the points for the loss of three wickets.

Third-placed Airedale were at Skipton CI and hustled the home side out for 56. Habib Aslam (5-15) and Nadeem Zaman (4-25) did the damage with the ball.

The Keighley side struggled to reach their target, losing four wickets in the process, with only Zaman mastering the condition for 33.

Ingrow St John’s II were definitely saved by the weather at Denholme. The home side rattled up 216-6, with Rob Taylor scoring a superb 110no.

The Saints were staring defeat in the face at 94-8 when stumps were drawn, with Richard Taylor taking 4-22 in five overs.

Steve Powell (88), Matty Lee (79), Brannan Lawn (70) and Simon Howell (40) helped Oakworth II reached a mammoth 313-4 at home to Glusburn II.

The Park Field were 96-3 at the close of proceedings, with Josh Banks hitting eight sixes in a whirlwind 76.

Long Lee II were unable to raise a side, which meant that Cononley II received three points.

Division Four leaders Crossflatts II ensured there were no problems with the weather as they shot ten-man visitors Chatburn II out for a miserable 26. No batsman reached double figures as R Wilkinson took 5-14 and D Mason 3-14. The home side lost three wickets reaching their target. The whole game only lasted 20.3 overs.

Second-placed Cullingworth II received three points when Wilsden II were unable to raise a side.

In a dress rehearsal for the Cowling Cup final the following day, Barrowford II were at Ingrow II. The Bull Holme side were indebted to Ajmal Choudrhy yet again as he made 61 of his side's 105. Martin Casey finished with 5-42 off 15 overs. The Hainworth club reached 76-4 and the game was drawn.

Sandy Lane II appeared to be in the driving seat at Riddlesden II.

They were 59-1 off 13 overs, chasing the Grange Road side's 157-6. Jamie Fullwood scored 43no and Darren Shields 31 not out as John Dennison claimed 5-27 in the first innings.

Pendle Forest II made 135-8 at Sutton II, who had made 33-1 in reply at the close.

Ten-man Cowling II were knocked over for 47 at home by Bradley II, with Andy Holmes taking 5-13 and M Hall 4-30. J Ackroyd took 4-18 as the visitors struggled to 50-5 to claim the points.

Little Marsden, leaders of Division Five, were storming to victory at Airedale II when the rain arrived.

K Mahmood made 48 as the Keighley side posted 128. Then, in 13 overs, Z Tariq (56no) and Stuart Grimshaw (22no )had taken the red-rose side to 86-1.

Eight points behind the leaders are Bradford & Bingley III, who blasted Denholme II out for a paltry 36 at Carleton.

No player reached double figures as J Johnston took 4-4 off 2.2 overs and J Hartley 3-5. The home side roared home by ten wickets.

Thornton II were 48-3 in reply to Eldwick & Gilstead II's 136-9 at Booth Bridge Lane. A Javeed made 70 for the visitors as M Oldfield claimed 5-21.

Adrian Ratcliffe (78), Gary Searby (62) and A Coatsworth (34) helped Haworth II to 234-9 at home to Bingley Congs II, who replied with 61-4.

Gargrave II and Skipton CI II received three points when Foulridge II and Pendle Forest III failed to raise sides.

Finally Oakworth III completed the high-scoring trio for the Cure Hill club by hammering 242-9 at Penistone Hill, with Graham Fothergill leading the way with 78 as Josh Holt took 5-69. Haworth WE II's reply had reached 56-3 in 16 overs when play ceased.
