The first of this seasin's Mewies Solicitors Craven & District League knockout finals takes place on Sunday, with Barrowford II taking on Ingrow II at Cullingworth in the Cowling Cup (1.30pm).

This is the first time that Ingrow II have appeared in the final. Since 2001, when they first entered the competition, the furthest they have got is the semi- finals in 2007.

The Hainworth side have reached the final by playing on one game in the competition; however this was not their fault.

In the first round, they were due to meet Long Lee II, who couldn’t raise a side. In the second round, they were at hoders Crossflatts II.

Rain prevented any play and Ingrow II progressed by the toss of the coin.

In the third round, Sandy Lane II conceded and Ingrow were into the semi-finals.

Here they met Sutton II at home and saw them off by three wickets.

While having some handy players, they definitely go into the final as underdogs.

Ingrow have a great deal of experience in Tony Crook, Ady Stokes, skipper Nick Coppack and Ian Herbert and are just two points behind Barrowford II in the League.

Meanwhile the red-rose side have appeared in eight finals, with a 50-50 success record, since joining the league in 1971.

While cricket is not a one-man game, Ajmal Choudrhy is the player Ingrow II will fear most as he has played a high standard of cricket in the past.

His batting can be destructive to any attack and his bowling is not bad either.

He is well backed up by Nabeel Ahmed, who has been in good form with the bat, as has David Wilkinson. In the bowling department, James Coates and Oli Shaw join Choudrhy and veteran David Berry.

The final is sponsored by JMS Cricket Ltd.
