Opening bowler Mike Oldfield was the star as Bolton Villas pulled off the shock result of the day in the Aire-Wharfe League, defeating runaway Division Two leaders Bilton for the first time since May 8.

With Lee Margerison (46) top scoring, Villas made 186-7 but with Oldfield (7-78) and Chris Spivey (3-62) in full flow, Bilton were dismissed for 178, which would have been far less if Andy Walker had not been dropped on eight on his way to 90.

Bilton remain 11 points clear of Follifoot but Harden just four points further back after a comfortable win over Calverley.

James Roper cracked 11 fours and five sixes in his 109 and put on 135 with Jeremy Batty (40) as Harden reached 209-7. Philip Leng (6-62) and Richard Wear (4-19) then skittled out Calverley for just 94.

That leaves Calverley at the bottom, and they were joined in the relegation places by Silsden, who crashed at Olicanian.

Chasing the home side’s 152-9, Silsden could find no answer to Bernard Hughes, whose 7-46 took him to 65 wickets for the season. With Ed Brown’s 3-16, the visitors were bowled out for 94.

Neil Spragg hit 84 as Steeton chased Knaresborough’s 227-5 but his side ended up 11 short of victory and had to settle for two points, while Fawad Maqsood followed up last week’s 72 with 83, and with veteran Mick Scott returning 6-59, Tong Park Esholt had the better of a draw at Upper Wharfedale.

Ryan Cooper’s unbeaten 105, which included 15 boundaries, and 88 from Charlie Davy saw Burley past Kirkstall Educational’s 237-8 with eight wickets in hand and kept them seven points clear in Division One.

Guiseley only managed to set second-placed Beckwithshaw a target of 127 but with Dave Pennett (4-40) unsettling the opposition, it looked as though it might be enough when the visitors struggled to 34-5. But a late rally kept Beckwithshaw’s title hopes alive.

A season’s best 4-33 from Ishtikhar Hussain helped restrict Collingham to 211-9 but Green Lane’s batting couldn’t keep up with the clock and they had to settle for two points, which allowed their opponents to climb over them into third.

Mark Stringer hit an unbeaten 104 as Rawdon eased their relegation worries by taking five points off Thackley, for whom Mahir Ali hit a half-century, while a 15-over spell of 5-15 from Ben Lister helped Otley to a 78-run win over North Leeds.

The Division Three promotion race is still wide open. Nick Cockroft (86no) saw Ilkley past Colton’s 158-9, while Nick Smith (6-36) took his wicket tally to 23 in five games as Ben Rhydding clinched a four-wicket win against Horsforth.

Nick Thornton (71) and Andrew Morgan (62) led the way as Menston reached 247-8 but a late flourish by the Bardsey tail helped them hang on for two points which leaves Menston six points behind the leading two.

Having taken only two points from their previous six games, Skipton refound their form to beat New Rover. Andrew Fergie (5-57) and Graham Summersgill (4-42) dismissed the visitors for 165, and Gary Owen (50) and Steve Carling (66no) made sure of the victory.

James Hall (4-38) and Ricky Palacio (3-13) restricted Hall Park to 109, a total Addingham passed with five wickets in hand to leave the Horsforth side in the bottom two.
