There is no doubting where the Aire-Wharfe League highlights will come on Saturday, with the top four Division One sides involved in two vital scraps that could have a major bearing on the title.

Burley’s seven-point lead means they will be still be top whatever the results but they face one of their toughest tests so far at third-placed Beckwithshaw.

Green Lane, who took over second place last week, face Kirkstall, who have returned to impressive form after a brief blip.

With the Brook brothers, Nick and David, leading the way, Burley are the only unbeaten top-flight club with the season almost halfway through.

They travel to a Beckwithshaw team without a win in their last three matches, including a first defeat last week by Green Lane.

But with players like John Inglis and Phil Critchley, they remain a potent threat and Burley will know not to take them lightly.

With Joe Pleasance, Yasser Ali and Michael Abbott in hot form, Lane beat Beckwithshaw comfortably, and have only had one setback in their last six outings, but they too will be aware of Kirkstall’s improved play.

Guiseley are another side that have quietly improved in recent weeks and they should be too strong for Pool, while Rawdon will fancy their chances of extending their unbeaten run to four matches against an Otley outfit that has dropped from fourth to seventh in the table.

Thackley have an opportunity to build on a good start to life at the top by beating struggling Adel.

Taking only four points from the last two games has seen Harden lose top spot in Division Two and they might find it difficult to take the full six points off Steeton, who have only lost twice so far.

Olicanian need to turn draws into wins if they are to move back into contention but won’t find life easy at Bolton Villas, while the bottom three clubs all have tough matches – Tong Park Esholt at Knaresborough, Silsden at Illingworth and Calverley at leaders Bilton.

Ilkley should be able to protect their newly-acquired top spot in Division Three at struggling Bardsey and Ben Rhydding should stay close on their heels against an out of sorts Hall Park.

Third-placed Menston made hard work of beating Alwoodley last week and could struggle if Horsforth run up a big total as they have in the past two weeks.

Skipton are up to fifth but need to beat fourth-placed Colton or the gap between them could be 17 points, while Addingham have the chance to move up the table at home to Alwoodley.
