The lottery of rain-affected cup ties yesterday has produced a Waddilove Cup quarter-final draw in which half the teams are from the lower divisions of ther Aire-Wharfe League.

Division One leaders Burley will be installed as favourites after the elimination of holders Beckwithshaw in a bowl-out with Division Two front-runners Bilton.

Burley’s victory at Otley was one of the games decided on a run-rate target.

The home side hit 112 for six, with Josh Atkinson scoring 57, after which it was calculated that Burley needed 49 off 14 overs, which they passed with nine wickets to spare.

The only match to finish in anything like a conventional manner was at Harden, where each side were restricted to 28 overs.

With Richard Wear (3-15) and Tom Cummins (3-23) keeping things tight, Illingworth only managed 63 for nine, and James Roper (49no) eased the home side to a ten-wicket win and a home tie against Bilton.

Rawdon, who will host this year’s final, also went through on run rate, 17 for none in 2.4 overs being enough to eliminate Pool and give them the pick of the quarter-final ties against Kirkstall Educational.

The remaining matches were decided in bowl-outs or coin tosses. Having been hit for 217 for five by New Rover, including 96 not out from Michael Richmond, Green Lane won the bowl-out 4-3.

They will travel to Menston, who knocked out Ilkley 2-1 in a bowl-out.

Steeton reached 141 for nine at Knaresborough but when the game was abandoned they lost the bowl out 3-2, denying them a tie against Burley.
