Holders East Bierley have been given given a first-round Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup clash at home to Morley next May.

Meanwhile, 2009 runners-up Farsley are at JCT600 Bradford League champions Baildon in what is probably the pick of the ties drawn at a league meeting this week.

Bankfoot9’s visit to Woodlands, who have plenty to prove after this season, is the only other all-First Division clash, while Cleckheaton’s home derby against Spen Victoria stands out among the other matches.

Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup first-round draw: Pudsey Congs v Brighouse, Bankfoot v Great Horton, Cleckheaton v Spen Victoria, Bankfoot1 v Gomersal, Baildon v Farsley, Bankfoot2 v Lightcliffe, East Bierley v Morley, Woodlands v Yeadon, Manningham Mills v Pudsey St Lawrence (matches to be played on Sunday, May 2). Another attempt to change the points system failed at the league’s annual meeting, also held at Pudsey Congs this week.

Baildon’s proposal, seconded by Bradford & Bingley, was for each win to count as 20 points, with bonus points only being picked up by the losers. However, it was defeated 19-12.

Even more heavily beaten was the proposal to introduce leg-side wides into all league games.

The management board’s motion, seconded by Pudsey Congs, fell 21-8.

However, the other four proposals were all passed and will come into effect for the 2010 season.

Any clubs not represented at league meetings will now be fined £25 (up from £10). The management board’s proposal, seconded by Saltaire, was passed 21-12.

Also getting through was the management board’s proposal, seconded by Hartshead Moor, over the non-payment of subscriptions or fines.

They will now be doubled if they are unpaid after one month and doubled again if they are still unpaid by the next stipulated date. That was passed 22-10.

Each club must now send a list of registered players, in alphabetical order, to the league secretary no later than March 15 each year.

Subsequent registrations or transfers can be added up to June 30 but they will be subject to a clearing perioid of seven days.

The management board’s proposal, seconded by Lightcliffe, was passed 23-11.
