Farnley Hill avoided Dales Council League relegation by the skin of their teeth after a losing draw against DIVISION A champions Rodley.

Hill finished level on points with Halifax Direct but stay up as they have won one more match than their rivals.

Rodley posted 178 for eight and Stuart Liddell then took five for 12 but Hill put up the shutters for 45 overs as they crawled to 79 for seven.

It means Direct go down with rock-bottom Adel (84-6), who rounded off with a losing draw against Baildon (175-5).

Direct (Mohamed Ali 75, Farhan Khan 59, Javeed Akhtar 53) wrapped up with an 84-run win against Hawksworth after reaching 302 but it was to no avail.

Amir Saeed took five for 26 in runners-up Shipley Providence’s 129 and Crompark went on to win by two wickets despite the efforts of Richard Taylor (5-23).

Leeds Sikh YMCA finished third after beating Pudsey Congs (136) by three wickets, although Saravan Kandasamy (6-31) did his utmost to upset them.

New Wortley, who racked up a mammoth 384 the previous week, could only manage 80 against a Hepworth & Idle side whose seven-wicket win secured fourth place.

Gopal Makwana logged the bowling feat of the season in DIVISION B as he picked up all ten wickets for 35 in dismissing Pudsey St Lawrence for 89 in response to Sikh YMCA B’s 179 for nine (Keith Marsden 6-41).

Danny Wilkins (5-30) restricted Drighlington to 113 before Paul Medley and Dave McDermott finished unbeaten in a ten-wicket success for second-placed Hepworth & Idle B.

Table-toppers Mount beat Rodley B (89) by ten wickets as Ismail Patel scored an unbeaten 77 but an inquiry regarding a previous match could still hand Hepworth the championship.

Basement side Baildon B slumped to another defeat after making just 99 as Ben Tempest’s 54 not out earned Farsley an eight-wicket success.

Shipley Providence B made 179 for nine and Tong Park Esholt had to settle for a losing draw after replying with 160 for eight.

The second DIVISION C promotion spot was finally resolved after Meanwood, who held the position before the start of play, lost by six wickets to champions Hyde Park after being dismissed for just 90.

This allowed Baildon C to climb above Meanwood after a 110-run romp against Pudsey Congs B.

Gulzameen Khan made 69 in Baildon’s 213 for nine and Majid Hussain (6-26) then routed Congs for 103.

Congs B and New Farnley C, who lost on Sunday to Cookridge by 68 runs in the final match of the season, occupy the bottom two berths and must reapply for next year.
