GOMERSAL are currently on an upward curve in what has so far been a rollercoaster season.
After setting the early pace, their form dipped with three defeats but, after a bad 119-run defeat to Lightcliffe, they have now won four on the bounce ahead of the visit of KEIGHLEY on Saturday.
Skipper Rob Burton said: “We’ve always known we’ve got the ability.
“It was just a case of sitting down as a group, getting our heads together and pulling our fingers out.”
Richard Gould remains as prolific as ever, scoring his third half-century on the trot (77) last week in the victory over Morley.
But just as valuable a knock came from Bradley Parker, who put on 96 with Gould in making 70. Burton said: “Morley posted a good score on not an easy pitch and Bradley played a very good innings at a time when the game was in the balance.”
Gomersal produced a surprisingly comfortable victory over tomorrow’s opponents in the corresponding fixture, which Burton rated as the team’s best performance of the year.
But he added: “We shouldn’t lose sight of the fact they had Richard Robinson missing which is a big loss in anyone’s side.”
Elsewhere, the top two face tricky tests, with leaders FARSLEY away to unpredictable GREAT HORTON, while IDLE entertain BANKFOOT, who are still very much in the promotion mix.
