The season might not be halfway through but experienced Bankfoot opening bowler Greg Colehan reckons the two promoted sides will come from the six clubs who are currently above Morley in the JCT600 Bradford League Division Two table.

Colehan, who missed a match recently with sciatica, said: “The leading sides are what I would expect but I am surprised that Idle are top of the pile.

“Danny Shuffe and their overseas player are doing the business, and the promotion places will probably be decided when the top six sides meet each other.”

There is plenty of that this weekend as sixth-placed Gomersal are at home to second-placed Farsley on Saturday and host fourth-placed Bankfoot on Sunday.

Another meeting of top-six sides is at Lawkholme Lane on Saturday when Keighley (third) play Undercliffe (fifth), while the top two square up on Sunday when Idle meet Farsley at Cavendish Road.

Colehan added: “I haven’t seen Gomersal yet this season as Sunday’s is the game that was postponed from the first day of the season but it is a matter of getting into Richard Gould and Bradley Parker.

“However, our overseas player Gareth Van Hoesslin has already scored five half-centuries.

“His powers of concentration are his main asset – he doesn’t give his wicket away and he plays straight.

“But then he can step things up when he needs to all around the wicket.”
