A wet outfield prevented there being any chance of play before lunch in the LV= Division One match between Yorkshire and Sussex at Hove.
Umpires Mark Benson and Steve O'Shaughnessy conducted a number of inspections during the morning and eventually decided that play would begin at one o'clock if there was no further rain.
Yorkshire will resume on 246-4, 46 runs in arrears of Sussex's first innings score and will look to push on and collect as many batting bonus points as possible. The visitors' chances of victory may be slim, given that the weather forecast for the next two days is unsettled.
Kane Williamson will resume on 80 not out and nightwatchman Steve Patterson is unbeaten on two.
