Yorkshire's batsmen enjoyed an outstanding afternoon on the second day of their LV= County Championship Division One match against Sussex at Hove, second-wicket pair Adam Lyth and Kane Williamson adding 95 runs in 32 overs without losing a wicket.
The pair went into tea with their side on 166-1, just 126 runs in arrears of their hosts' first innings score of 292 with nine wickets in hand.
Lyth looked in particularly fine form and was 80 not out, having hit eight fours in getting to his 114-ball fifty. Williamson took one ball fewer to get to his half-century and was 58 not out at the second break.
The White Rose are now well-placed to go on and build a substantial first-innings lead, although the weather forecast for the next two days is by no means certain.
