Jer Lane’s charge towards the Foster’s Halifax League title shows no sign of slowing down after seeing off Booth by seven wickets.

Chris Shannon must have thought his Booth side had a chance of posting a challenging total after the opener himself had made 61 in the Premier Division clash.

But Nasir Chowdrey claimed 7-68 as they subsided to 156, with Jordan Laban’s unbeaten 81 then guiding Lane home.

Mytholmroyd climbed to second place, 14 points behind Lane, by winning at SBCI as Thornton dropped to fourth after a 126-run mauling by Blackley, who leapfrogged them into third.

Blackley posted 234-9 before N Irshad scattered Thornton with figures of 9-34 as the visitors were all out for 108.

Jason Slator’s 105 not out in bottom club Clayton’s 223-5 was not enough to prevent a nine-wicket defeat by Sowerby Bridge.

That was because Bridge opener Tim Helliwell responded with an excellent unbeaten 88, while Nick Whitehill pipped him to the high score with an unbeaten 104.

Southowram won Division One’s third versus second clash with Queensbury by 38 runs. But they only collected nine points to leave the second promotion spot behind Sowerby, who were 12-point winners at Outlane, still wide open.

Ian Uttley (78) and Ben Wells (64) launched Southowram to 174-5 with 18 overs still remaining before Queensbury spinners Amjad Ali (4-104) and Girdev Singh (2-83) applied the brakes and only a late-innings assault from Jamie Moody (63 off 29 balls) pushed the total to 264-7.

In contrast, Queensbury took 15 overs to reach the 50 mark but opener Scott Osborne then advanced to 118 from 93 balls with ten sixes and six fours.

However, the dismissal of Osborne by Dave Scott (3-48) saw skipper Phil Sharples and Andy Ingham need to bat out the remaining overs as they stopped at 218-8 to deny the Rams maximum points.

A low-scoring match at Oxenhope saw the home side dodge the weather and squeeze home for the full 12 points against Old Crossleyans, who were restricted to 139 by Liam Dyson (5-43).

Oxenhope then had to recover from 49-6 to squeeze home by a single wicket as Joe Ousey’s unbeaten 51 proved decisive against Dickson (5-78) and Pierson (4-46).

Wibsey Park Chapel picked up maximum points as they continued to pile the pressure on Division Two leaders Low Moor, who only managed to bank nine from their victory over Old Town.

Chapel skittled Augustinians for 109 before recovering from 3-0 to win by three wickets thanks to skipper Matthew Jordan’s unbeaten 38.

Fourth-placed Shelf and bottom side Denholme Clough were both thwarted by the weather.
