Lancashire’s Mitchell McClenaghan is confident Yorkshire’s fans will not affect his side’s bid to go cold turkey on their losing Twenty20 habit at Headingley tonight.

The New Zealand fast bowler has heard all about the raucous nature of the West Stand for a Roses derby, with the Red-Rose players joking that a visit across the M62 is cricket’s version of playing at Galatasaray.

This is a crunch clash if ever there was one because while Yorkshire have lost their first two North Division matches, Lancashire have lost two of their first three.

Lancashire players are often subject to plenty of stick from the White Rose faithful, and legend has it that the odd sandwich or mouldy piece of fruit has been thrown in their direction.

McClenaghan, however, will not be fazed by anything of that sort because he has seen it all before in his Central Districts days.

“That's nothing to when I started for CD because there were chickens chucked from the top of tiers and drinks exploding left and right,” he revealed.

“The only way they're going to get one up on playing at Pucky Park (Pukekura Park) is if they throw a whole turkey. I'm not bothered, they can give it to me as much as they want.”

Another player who will be ‘pumped‘ for the clash is Vikings‘ fast bowler Jack Brooks.

Brooks signed from Northamptonshire in the winter, and like McClenaghan has started the FLt20 in stunning form with six wickets in two matches. McClenaghan has eight from three.

“I can’t explain how much I’m looking forward to this one,” he said. “The lads have been talking about it since the winter. A full house will be great to play in front of and a Roses game, there may be added bite.

“It will be nice to take a few wickets and go and celebrate with them (the West Stand).”

Phil Jaques is in tonight’s 14-man squad after recovering from an abdominal strain that has ruled him out of action since mid-June.

Meanwhile, England fast bowler Tim Bresnan has signed a new contract with Yorkshire that runs until December 2016.

The all-rounder, 28, debuted for the county in 2001, and he took 16 wickets in four LV= County Championship matches earlier this season in preparation for next week’s Ashes series.
