Yorkshire added 59 runs to their lunchtime score for the loss of their remaining five wickets and were bowled out for 390 in the LV= County Championship match at Lord’s.
Andrew Gale’s team then took the wicket of Sam Robson when the Middlesex opener edged Ryan Sidebottom to second slip, where Adam Lyth made no mistake with the catch.
The home side were 15-1 after 4.3 overs when bad light forced an early tea.
In the first part of the afternoon there was disappointment of sorts for Adil Rashid, who was lbw to James Harris for 72 when seeking to secure a fourth bonus point for his side. Rashid’s average has now plummeted to a mere 145.25.
Richard Pyrah followed the in-form Rashid four balls later and there followed a somewhat careful period of play in which the Yorkshire tail sought to build an even more formidable total from a base of 345-7.
In the event they added a further 45 runs, with Liam Plunkett making 26 of them. James Harris, Ollie Rayner and Tim Murtagh all took three wickets for the hard-working Middlesex side.
