Despite losing three wickets, Yorkshire made good progress on the second morning of their LV= County Championship Division One match against Middlesex and went into lunch on 331-5.

However, the session began badly when Alex Lees was caught behind by John Simpson off the first ball of the morning, bowled by James Harris.

Lees's departure for his overnight score of 100 was quickly followed by that of Joe Sayers, who was lbw for just one to a good delivery from Tim Murtagh, and that left Yorkshire on 220-4.

However, Adil Rashid and Andrew Gale then shared an enterprising 109-run stand in just 24 overs for the fifth wicket, Rashid reaching his half-century with a whipped four off Berg and Gale getting to his second successive century of the season with a square drive off the same bowler.

Two overs later, Gale was lbw to Ollie Rayner for 103 but Yorkshire went into lunch needing 19 runs off three overs to collect their fourth batting bonus point.

Rashid, who has ridden his luck and also played some fine shots, is 64 not out.
