Wilsden II won the clash of the joint holders in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League Cowling Cup.

They beat Embsay II 45 runs at Windy Grove, the hosts building on an opening partnership of 90 by Jacob Jagger (33) and M Hall (79) to reach 242 all out, skipper Robert Greenwood providing crucial impetus with 64.

The Shires Laners found the going tough against some excellent bowling and found themselves 58-5.

Then 14-year-old Elliott Stockton put on 110 for the sixth wicket with 62-year-old Brian Hodgson.

The latter went for 81 and the task proved too much, despite Stockton making 47 as the innings closed on 197.

Wilsden II now entertain Barrowford II, who saw off Foulridge II by six wickets.

Having made an unbeaten century the previous day, Brannan Lawn was in the runs again with 58 as Oakworth II hit 238-9 at home to Ingrow II.

Drew Duffy (48) and skipper Steve Powell (45no) were other contributors as 14-year-old Dan Scott claimed 4-50.

The Hainworth side replied with 156, with Ben Percy making 42 as Jack Ellis took 4-35.

Oakworth II will host Long Lee II after the Golden View outfit won by 19 runs at Riddlesden II.

The visitors’ total of 116 (Oliver Bellerby 35, John Duffey 6-33) proved too much as the Grange Road side were knocked over for 97, with Neil Kennedy (4-28) and Mick Hawkes (3-33) doing the damage.

Airedale II reached the third round with a six-wicket triumph at Chatburn II.

The Ribble Valley side were pegged back to 123 as Alan Hayes spun his way to 4-17 and Giles Wilmore took 3-41.

Paul Feather (46) then led the way as the visitors cruised home in 35 overs.

Sutton II are Airedale’s next opponents. They progressed due to Haworth West End II being unable to raise a side.

Denholme II are into the third round after Glusburn II were eliminated due to their first team pulling out of the Wynn Cup the previous week.

Baildon Bottom is the destination for Denholme II in the next round. Haworth Road II won by eight at Cullingworth II, who made 207.

Third-round draw: Haworth Road II v Denholme II; Sutton II v Airedale II; Wilsden II v Barrowford II; Oakworth II v Long Lee II. Matches to be played on Sunday, June 30.
