Josh Hutchinson’s 43 took unbeaten Thornton to joint top of the Bradford & District Evening League First Division after they overhauled Bingley Congs’s 95-5 for the loss of just two wickets.

They are joined at the top by Windhill, who defeated champions Haworth Road.

Skipper Jack Holland (46) and Wasim Rafiq (45) helped the visitors set a challenging total of 135-7, and then tight bowling and good fielding restricted previously unbeaten Haworth Road to 116-7.

John Breare secured their first win of the season, with Aaron Chapman (50no) and Danny Holah (48) leading the way in their score of 166-4.

With six players aged over 50, Breare belied their age as they bowled Apperley Bridge out for 113.

Shelf impressed as they chased down Salem’s 187-7, with Jeremy Smith (50no) once again to the fore.

Meanwhile, Denholme seem to be specialising in close victories, as they surpassed Allerton’s 107-8 with two balls to spare.

In the Second Division, Azad’s Tasir Javed shone as his 4-7 tore the heart out of Daisy Hill’s batters, dismissing them for 45.

Azad top the table, closely followed by Smart Moves, for whom Asad Abbas (52no) showed his quality as they overtook Mayfield’s 115-8 for the loss of three wickets.

Indian Panthers achieved their first win as Iqbal Khan took four wickets to help bowl Cambing out for 69. He then showed his all-round qualities, hitting 33 as his side won by eight wickets.

Lewis Brown’s 34 proved crucial for Bolton Villas in their 106-9, with Tong Park Esholt falling seven runs short of victory.

Keighley notched the highest score of the day, setting 199-8 at Queensbury.

The hosts made a valiant reply, with Scott Osborne (55) leading the way, but their innings ended on 130-4.

Stonewhite continue to impress as they scored a home win over Shipley Providence, while Wibsey Park Chapel were bowled out for 83 in pursuit of Oakworth’s 86-8.
