Pudsey Congs won the battle of the Dales Council League top two as they beat New Wortley by three wickets to move 13 points clear at the Division A summit.

The previous weekend had seen New Wortley overcome Shipley Providence in a clash between two of the three sides locked at the top of the table with 100 per cent records.

But the Leeds side were unable to follow up that victory against Congs, who are now the only team in the section to have won all their four matches to date.

New Wortley were dismissed for 133 (Usman Rasool 42), with Steve Bedford (4-42) and Saquib Mehmood (4-50) doing the damage, before the Pudsey outfit edged home on 138-7.

The defeat saw New Wortley slip to third in the table as Cookridge climbed above them with a seven-wicket home victory over winless Crompark.

Chris Halliday (75) and Satnam Thiarra (63) impressed for Crompark but their team-mates were only able to boost the total to 176 (Jhangir Gulzar 4-13).

Dom Wyatt (52) then guided Cookridge to a match-winning 177-3.

Dewsbury side Saville Stars are fourth after a 46-run win over visitors Hepworth & Idle, who slipped to fifth after a match in which the bowlers dominated.

Stars were dismissed for just 109 by Andy Clinton (5-32) and Sean McEvoy (4-24) but Hepworth also found the conditions difficult and were all out for just 63 in reply as Ansar Mehmood returned a decisive 5-10.

Halifax Direct (143-2 – Asfaq Khan 52no, Rizwan Darr 40no) recorded a second successive victory after two early defeats as they won by eight wickets against Shipley Providence (140-9) to move up to sixth place.

Baildon (229) romped to a 127-run success at Farnley Hill (102), while Adel (78) remain rooted at the foot of the table after a 76-run home defeat to Leeds Sikh (154).

The game of the day in Division B saw leaders Bradford Moor travel to Tong Park Esholt, who won by three wickets thanks to an unbeaten 111 by Martin Cuthbertson.

Moor posted a healthy 236 (Irfan Sadiq 81, Adil Wahid 66, Andy Barker 5-46) but the hosts replied with 238-7 to maintain their own 100 per cent record while ending their opponents’ perfect start.

It meant Moor dropped to fourth and left Tong Park second as Cookridge B took over at the top by two points.

Cookridge made it four wins out of four as they dismissed Baildon B for 135 before getting home with four wickets in hand.

The Division C leadership is shared between Drighlington/Whitehall B and Pudsey Congs B after both recorded impressive third wins.

Drighlington (77-3) overcame visitors Wibsey Park Chapel (76) by seven wickets, while Congs had an emphatic ten-wicket home win (87-0) over Cookridge C (86).
