The Bradford Mutual Sunday School League may be taking a new direction with their annual dinner.
“We should look at Asian food,” said Mohammed Amir Majid of Bradford Moor YCA.
Last year’s dinner was held at the Dubrovnik Hotel on Oak Avenue but the Midland Hotel and the Midpoint Aagrah are other possibilities.
Dinner organiser Graham Langton was not happy with all the diners’ dress codes, saying: “Jeans, a denim shirt and denim jacket is not acceptable. It is not asking too much to dress up once a year.”
Even more annoying was that there were only eight raffle prizes – and they were donated by two people.
“That was shocking and embarrassing and only £150 was raised from the raffle,” said Langton.
“The previous year there were 15 to 20 raffle prizes and we try and keep the ticket prices down.
“We charged £22, the meal cost £20 and the speaker cost £400, so we aim to make up the difference with the raffle.”
